Healthy Water Ways
(Gr 3-6 or Gr 7-10)
Ocean Stars provides this program courtesy of the Centre for Aquatic Research and SEQ Water. 10%
A very 'hands-on' program, with a large component
being the sorting and identification of freshwater macro invertebrates.
'Healthy Water Ways' investigates the origin of our water supply in SEQ, why it's critical that our catchments remain healthy and how to determine waterway health.
With a multimedia presentation, we investigate the importance of healthy waterways. Students will then work in small groups to participate in a practical Bug ID activity. We will discuss features used to identify the water bugs, record findings and create a class tally sheet, which can be used for post visit learning.
An engaging and interactive program that will leave your students excited (and educated!) about the amazing world of water bugs!!
Program Name: Healthy Water Ways
Age Group: Gr 3-6 or Gr 7-10
Duration: 60 mins
Numbers: Strictly limited to 1 class per session.
(Extra sessions available for an additional fee)

- The growth and survival of living things are affected by physical conditions of their environment (ACSSU094)
- Scientific knowledge is used to solve problems and inform personal and community decisions (ACSHE083)
